Police Checks you originate from the UK or Australia
You require a criminal clearance from your country of origin. These can be obtained by contacting Scotland Yard if you are from the UK and ask for a subject access check. These cost approx£10 and take approx 40 days to clear. If you are from Australia you will need to contact a local police station in the State in which you come from to obtain a criminal clearance form .

Nursing Registration
Each State in Australia has a Nurses Regulatory Authority and you are required to register in the State you wish to work in. To work in Sydney you are required to be Registration in the State of New South Wales. This can take up to three-four months to obtain. Please refer to the attached list to ascertain the contact details of the Board and request a Registration pack, enclosed within the pack should be an application form for the state of NSW. Once you have received the pack and applied for your Registration ring the Registration Board a minimum of three weeks later, to ensure it has been received by them.

Curriculum Vitae Guidelines for Australia

The following is simple guidelines to help you put together your CV. You are able to individualise the process to project your style and personality. The employment process is all about marketing yourself, and your CV is going to represent you in your absence.

What is the point of a CV?
• To introduce and differentiate yourself and your skills - this is your first step in securing a job!
• To give an employer the opportunity to evaluate your suitability for an interview.
• To present your personal & professional record, including accurate abilities and achievements.

Some Tips!
• Keep it Simple, keep it short. 3-4 Pages absolute maximum. – It needs to be an interesting and concise summary, of your work and education history, not a novel.
• Presentation is everything. Get someone neutral to read your CV before you send it out. Make sure there are no grammatical or spelling errors. Your CV must always be written by you not a third party.
• Make sure it is relevant to the job that you are applying for. Think, "What core competencies is this employer looking for" e.g. customer service, teamwork, leadership.
• Use positive language that gives a sense of accomplishment and potential benefit to the employer.
• Avoid the use of "I"; begin the sentences with terms denoting action e.g. performing duties, dealing with, responsible for.
